アートフレームセット「絵てぬぐい 隈取五種」
アートフレームと絵てぬぐいのギフトセットです。
アートフレームは当店で開発した特許商品。マグネット式の上下2本のフレームに挟んで吊るすだけで、簡単に手ぬぐいをタペストリーとして飾れます。フレームの表面は桜の蒔絵、裏面は無地なので、インテリアにあわせて表側も裏側もお使いいただけます。
セットされている手ぬぐいは、注染という伝統の技で熟練の職人が染めました。手染めによる鮮やかな染め色と粋な風合いが日本の文化を伝えます。
◆絵てぬぐい「隈取五種」◆
「隈取」とは、顔の血管や筋肉を誇張し、性格や表情などを表現するために施す歌舞伎独特の化粧法のこと。歌舞伎では場面における役割が重視されるため、同じ人物でも隈取が変わることもあります。手ぬぐいにデザインされているのは、むきみ隈、一本隈、二本隈、筋隈、猿隈。むきみ隈は助六などの若く色気と正義感がある役柄、一本隈は和藤内など力強い役柄、二本隈は鳴神上人などの落ち着いている大人の役柄、筋隈は曽我五郎などの超人的な勇者のような役柄、猿隈は豪快だが滑稽な役柄で見られます。

Art Frame Set “Tenugui: Kabuki -Kumadori 5 kinds”
This gift set includes an art frame and a hand-dyed Tenugui, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern design.
The Art Frame is a patented product developed in-house, featuring two magnetic frames that easily hold the Tenugui like a tapestry. Simply sandwich the fabric between the two magnetic frames and hang it up. The front of the frame features a delicate sakura (cherry blossom) maki-e design, while the back is plain, allowing you to switch it up to match your interior style.
The Tenugui is dyed using the traditional Chusen technique by skilled artisans, with vibrant colors and a refined texture that showcase the beauty of Japanese craftsmanship.
Tenugui: Kabuki – Kumadori 5 kinds
Kumadori is a unique makeup technique in Kabuki theater, designed to emphasize facial veins and muscles to express a character’s personality, emotions, and role. Since Kabuki places great importance on a character’s role within a scene, the same character may wear different Kumadori styles depending on the context.
This Tenugui features five distinct Kumadori designs, each associated with a specific type of character:
- Mukimi-guma (むきみ隈) – Worn by youthful, charismatic, and righteous figures, such as Sukeroku.
- Ippon-guma (一本隈) – A bold and powerful style, often seen on warriors like Watōnai.
- Nihon-guma (二本隈) – A more composed and mature style, commonly used for wise and dignified characters like Narukami Shōnin.
- Sujiguma (筋隈) – The most iconic style, symbolizing superhuman strength and heroic warriors, as seen on Soga Gorō.
- Saru-guma (猿隈) – A dynamic yet comical design, used for lively and eccentric roles.
This Tenugui beautifully captures the essence of Kabuki makeup, making it a perfect keepsake for Kabuki enthusiasts, theater lovers, or those who appreciate traditional Japanese arts.
